Getting past writer's block

Many discussions have been shared about the topic of the ages, and many see it as a legitimate excuse for not getting any writing done, or being stuck. For me, the simple act of writing gets me past it. It doesn't matter what you write, just write. It'll work itself out. Another useful exercise I find, is to speak it out of your mind, by reaffirming to yourself that you want to write and that you are a writer.

The book is coming along nicely, and I am now working on completing chapter ten of the draft by the end of the day. Possibly even chapter eleven.

With today's update, I wanted to share a snippet from chapter nine. I hope you enjoy it.

Chapter Nine snippet:

A robed figure stepped out of the shadows of an alleyway across from the Hog's Head; moonlight cast a shadow from his hood across half of his face as he watched the creature on the rooftop, preparing to lunge at a window on the side of the upper level of the inn.
"Find what we seek and kill any who get in your way," he whispered as the creature met his gaze.
The creature tilted its head to one side and let out a chortling sound in acknowledgement, then lunged at the window, the sound of shattering glass breaking the silence of night.
